Welcome to Intentional Legal™

I help businesses and individuals BREATHE through the messy middle of change, growth, pivots, and re-imaginings. I work with Lawyers, Paralegals, Neutrals, and Social Workers in particular and teach the foundations of how to live with Intention and how to practice Compassionate Professionalism

My personal practices and my course offerings revolve around Secular Mindfulness and Meditation practices. You often hear these touted as tools for stress reduction. That is a great start, but it's just the surface level. These tools are evidenced based modalities that can help you literally to breathe through the messy middle of growth, changes, pivots, and re-imaginings. Through mindfulness and meditation practices, you can go deeper and connect your mind + heart.

By connecting mind + heart you can learn to cultivate self compassion. As you cultivate self compassion, you can learn to cultivate compassion for others, including what I call compassionate professionalism, for your clients and for your colleagues.

What makes my approach different ?

I go deeper, below the surface of mindfulness and meditation practices, and I do it without judgment and in a secular only way.

Are you curious about mindfulness and meditation practices but have no idea where to start? Or have you tried other training programs but felt stifled by the rigidity of the program? Did you feel unable to ask the questions you really wanted to ask? We welcome those questions in our community!

Are you wondering if you can use mindfulness and meditation practices to bring more peace to your life? Are you unsure if mindfulness or meditation can be practiced in a secular, non-religious manner, or along side your existing religion or moral framework?

Are you a current practitioner of mindfulness or meditation and wondering how to bring trauma sensitive and trauma informed practices to your practices?

Who is this program made for... Are you a lawyer, JD, or law adjacent professional who is burned out at work? Do you want to put the oxygen mask on yourself but don't know how? Are you considering a job or career change but you're not sure... because maybe your job is too good to leave but too bad to stay? Are you looking for practical ways to identify what you really want in your career or as a professional? I've been there... and I want you to know that there are alternatives. You don't have to leave wellness at the office door.

Hi, I’m Kim

I am an attorney, ADR Professional, and Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Instructor. I am also certified in trauma-informed/ Internal Family Systems (IFS "Parts Work") Inspired meditation practices. I have experienced the stress and burnout of working over 25 years in the legal and consulting professions. I credit my secular mindfulness and meditation practices for helping me re-discover my peace, my sense of balance, and my compassion for myself and my colleagues and clients.

If any of that resonates with you, then you are in the right place

at the right time...

I've created a framework training specifically with you in mind:

  • to help the "helpers" in the legal and law adjacent fields get started with secular mindfulness for stress reduction;
  • to deepen the practices that you have now by helping you incorporate secular mindfulness into your every day life;
  • to give you perspective on these topics by giving you the background and history of mindfulness and mediation; and
  • to make it all accessible by providing these trainings through pre-recorded online courses.

Why do I do this? o decouple the mystical and religious from mindfulness. I believe that mindfulness and meditation can be used independently of your spiritual/ moral framework OR in conjunction with your existing framework. No need to drop out of your life or radically alter your existing religious/ moral beliefs. Rather, mindfulness and meditation can be complimentary tools that help you grow, develop, and thrive through expanded self-compassion and compassion for others. By demythologizing meditation and mindfulness, by removing the mystical and religious overlay that can but do not have to permeate the practices, we get to the heart of the practices, which his compassion, acceptance, and perspective.

In our courses, you will learn not only the everyday practices that form the basis of secular mindfulness, but you'll also learn the background and history of mindfulness and meditation. We believe that this knowledge is vital to help you make intentional choices about which type of practice is right for you, to help you find the right practices for where you are in this present moment, and from moment to moment to moment.
